Eric Jon Veri

Story

Eric was born in Miami, Florida and spent most of his childhood in Jacksonville Beach. He grew up surfing and playing in bands. He spent several years on the road with his band Lynus and also with other acts that hired him out to perform . He walked away from music for years, but two years ago he started writing and recording new demos from home. He was urged on from friends who were still in the industry and had who had heard his new songs. He's been at it non-stop ever since. Asked recently how he felt about starting over he answered, "Starting what over? I'm just having a blast playing again and an even better time in the studio. I'm with friends who have had great success. We don't have any pressure on us or anything to prove . We're just making music that we enjoy and hopefully others do to!". The first two songs out of the gate prove that he still has it. The two artists who helped recording and composing the songs with him are well -known musicians in their own rites: Andy Patalan from Sponge and Jason Hartless from Ted Nugent's band. I hope that you will enjoy the music as much as they enjoyed making it for you! D.H.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Its Life, Its release, It is escape, Its what I do ! And it has always giving me a sense of purpose and drive.

What is your music dream?

Still living it. Everyday I realize I lived my life doing this. I know how lucky I have been and I am always grateful for that.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Myself,... I'm not qualified to tell others what to change, how or why.. nor would I want to be. Except for Pan Flute players.... I have a problem with those guys...

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Let it Be

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

U2, Depeche Mode, The Clash, Beatles, Bob Mould

What inspires you to make music?

Life and some inner calling.. I guess... I have never really had a good answer for that. It just comes from somewhere and I do my best to get it out so other can hear what i am hearing or feeling..

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Depends, It's always about real situations. Life, love . loss but RARELY about any one person. I just always write how i feel or felt and if someone relates then thats great. In most of my songs, and logo. The word Believe is there, or the imagery . Because one should never give up on anything they want , love or believe in. Especially life. And most importantly, Have Fun !!!

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Alive. Its a blast. Always all out and just the best time. I have no fear so I go at it 200% and just have fun. Its contagious. Off stage however I am very different. Much quieter and reserved... although i am always cracking comical observations about whats going on, I do it live too..although you don't ever want to heckle me live...(huge grin and laughs), I write songs for a living, so I know how to use words very very well ! (laughs again)..The very few times it has ever happened were so much fun... for me and the rest of the audience...

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

No idea, don't really pay attention or care. Everyone's "reality" is different based on so many factors. But I have always believed you only fail if you give up and quit. I write to make me happy. If others like it thats great.. but reality is everyone won't. And that's hard for most to deal with. I am always supportive to others in music and always want them to be better and do more than me.. reality can always be positive, it just depends on your perspective and view of things.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far since reaching out you guys have been great to me and I always enjoy my time here checking out some really talented people out there. Love that.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Writers block, people in guitar center playing 1. Stairway to Heaven 2. Freebird Sandal wearers in black socks.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes as much as I can if i can get out. My schedule is is getting crazy lately and I am probably going to be taking this on the road in the spring if everything works out time wise ..so it is getting harder to see shows locally for me.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Patience, Humility, Drive, ... Good songs.. Thick skin... YOU WILL HEAR NO.....ALOT... Do not give up

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

New World Spirits, Bleach, Shout Out Louds', Solid Frog, Colin Hay... Unless they wear sandals with black socks...... Then we will have a problem...
