Eddie Lives

about me

I was born on our family-farm in the Netherlands in 1972. I learned to play guitar when I was 8 years old. Started playing in local cover bands when I was 20. During the ten years that I was self employed working with horses and their owners , I was doing very little with music. When I was heading towards a burn-out, I quit my job and started to study how our system works (banks, governments, etc). Doing this I lost almost everything I 'owned' ... only to find myself and pick up my guitar again. After ditching most rules in both life and music, I started to write my own songs. I found myself gravitating towards Neil Young and the harmonica. My repertoire now contains many great songs from Neil Young and my own songs. In my show, my 'listening concert', I tell a story of (my) life.... I love nature, being naked and good strong coffee, I play music for fun, joy and change .... Raising Vibration of human consciousness. I play most songs in 432 Hz tuning, except for the songs I play with harmonica (440 Hz). So I usually bring two guitars to my gigs. On is tuned in 432 Hz, the other on in 440 Hz

What is music to you? What does it give you?

It is amazing what music brings not just to me, but to humanity. Lyrics, stories, vibrations, amazing frequencies. It unites us. Although I have to atmit ... I also love silence. But one of the defenitions of music is: Music is silence between notes.

What is your music dream?

to play regularly for a listening audience in an intimate setting so we can create an atmosphere of connection and higher vibrations so that our mind will shut up long enough for our hearts to open up for a few moments so it can show us how wonderful our true nature really is and that maybe the hearts deepest desire becomes obvious

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Write songs about it and play them in 432 Hz (or 528 Hz, not really sure if one is better than the other)

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Sultans of Swing from Dire Straits. Must have played along with it 1000 times. Played it with a few bands too. Love the song, still do.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Lately I mainly listen to Neil Young. Grew up with Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Eagles, America, Bruce Springsteen, CCR, Fleetwood Mac.

What inspires you to make music?

To express myself. I'm not really good at talking (unless people really listen). Music sends a message without forcing your opinion on them. It opens my heart and it allows for the listener also to open their heart, or express themselves or just have fun and dance.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Raising Vibration of human consciousness ... and/or ... just fun and joy.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

It depends ... usually in the start I notice everything ... are people listening, are they tapping allong with their hand or feet. As soon as I notice connection with few people, I start to go in 'the zone' .... however you want to call it. It is a very warm feeling, I feel heared and seen as you are. I concentrate a lot on my playing and singing, otherwise I'll make mistakes.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I hear a lot of music just for entertaining ... and very loud, just so they don't hear their chatter in their mind anymore. The solution ... more songs writen and played from the heart, not from the mind.

What do you think of Drooble?

Hard to say, I just arrived :-) ...

What frustrates you most as a musician?

marketing, advertising. I would love to work together with somebody who loves doing this.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I love going to live gigs in my neighbourhood. Look for new bands, musicians, new stages/locations. I would love to set up an 'open mic' night somewhere.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

I wish I knew.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

I'll think about this one
