E Scott Hancock

Story

This is not just a story about Scott, but about a group of friends that came together, started something special, and somewhere in between, became family. This journey started in 1989 when a young singer named Joey Menicola from New Jersey and a young bass player names Scott Hancock from Virginia moved back to port Richey Florida about the same time, met, and dared to dream of hitting it big and taking the music industry by storm. Scott had the non stop drive and sales knowledge and Joey had the chops to do it too. Joey's voice was easy to sell, he had a vocal range that could only be matched by the likes of Michael Sweet, Miljenko (Mike) Matijevic of Steel Heart and Tony Harnell. It took searching years to find the right members to meet the expectations of such a singer, but that challenge was met when Joey and Scott would find a third brother in guitar legend Mike Smith and shortly after power drummer Danny Coon and together they would form such bands as Black Jack, Bulls Eye, Antiquity, and Winter Rose. Playing such venues as the Ice Palace, St. Pete Expo Center, State Parks, and Ampa-theaters throughout central Florida. Winter Rose was opening for acts like Great White, Kenny McGee and revving up the crowds for Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth. Winter Rose was signed to a smaller label TMG Records out of Ohio and would be distributed nationally and internationally. All was going great, but fate can be cruel, and we lost our drummer. There were many drummers over the next several years, all seemed distant. Then Joe Forcino joined Winter Rose, and the hole was filled, he was everything we were looking for. As Winter Rose started moving forward again, around 2015, Joey started to slow down, no one knew why exactly, he was diagnosed with diabetes years earlier, we came to find out Joey was extremely sick, and his kidneys were shutting down, due to years of not taking care of the diabetes or his health (which we were all guilty of). Winter Rose stopped from 2015 thru 2018. Sadly, Joey passed away on January 13, 2018 at 9 pm his whole family, Mother, Father, Wife, son and Daughter, some aunts and uncles as well as Scott were there around his bed in his final hours. Joey will always be remembered as a brother of the remaining members of this band and will always have a place in our hearts; we do what we do because we love it, but we continued because of him. What next, Mike and Joe came to Scott and wanted to continue as a group but fly a different banner out of respect. ON2U was born. So here we are, we added Jarred Williamson to our roster, a singer hailing from Jacksonville that started singing everything from Gospel to CCR in churches and live performances around Florida. As a youth Jared was signed a couple of ti9mes to Entertainment companies, but as an adult, he tore up the local music scene fronting band like Joe moves Band, Convincing Cain, and Indigenous. ON2U also added another guitarist named Matt Powell, who will shake things up. Matt, having moved to Florida in 1990 from Eden North Carolina, couldn’t wait to start playing guitar. This wild-eyed axe slinger had his heart set on playing like his heroes Dime-bag Darrell, Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhoads, Dave Sabo and Scotti Hill, just to name a few, and he would go on to hit the stage with bands like Sobriety X, Argus, P.B.R., 100 Years and the list goes on. But, music is changing and has a lot of spaces to fill and the rules are all changing with it. 2018 will be a good year for music and ON2U will be right in the center of it. ON2U is a mix of Disturbed and Saliva meets Five Finger Death Punch and Motley Crüe. ON2U will be the new and up and coming talent in 2018, there is no doubt. look for their name in lights very soon!
