I used to call myself bass bear. Then I got my PhD and then I was Dr Bass Bear. But that just sounds silly, so call me DRB. I make whatever flavour of electronica seems to fit my mood, as long as its got some sub, it works for me. I love DnB, hiphop, and everything in between. I compose a lot of stuff algorithmically, so if that interests you hit me up! Also hit me up to say hi. xxx

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is my meditation trigger - I put my headphones on, and the world outside melts away. I like exploring the possibilities of sound, how it always takes you somewhere new

I just wanna make some awesome noises

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

No more climate change...

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Spice girls!

65 days of static, amon tobin, noisia, BT, shpongle, crystal method

What inspires you to make music?

It chills me out

What is the message you want to send with your music?

My music isn't about the message. There's enough messages in the world. I just want to make something enjoyable to listen to, something a bit new and different

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Like nothing else matters

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Too many platforms, too much hustle. Too hard for the introverted artists to shine through

Seems cool so far

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Too many platforms, too much hustle

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes -- I used to run a DnB night, I go to local nights (pre-covid), etc

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

They just gotta make cool sounding stuff

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Tom Finster is my DnB Idol at the moment -- clean, crisp, beautiful production, such a fresh sound.
