My Name is Don Tackett and I am from a little town called Danville, Ky. I have been writing lyrics since the age of 9. I tend to put more time into songwriting than I do practicing the guitar so my playing is not as strong as it should be. I have several songs out on itunes, spotify, ect all original stuff. I mainly write lyrics for Country, Blues and Gospel, but on request I have written lyrics for musical tracks others have created in the Genre of Rock, Pop, Hip Hop. I am in a local band and we stay quite busy playing gigs, but I still try to practice and write new stuff daily. I am a member of NSAI and BMI and have some songs up for consideration with one publisher.. so hoping for the best. If I had one thing to say to everyone here it would be... NEVER GIVE UP.. just keep reaching for your dreams, and play music because you love it.
Music to me is the freedom to dream and create a world of my choosing. No constraints, no limitations or "fitting into the norm" but singing about things that touch me personally
To write songs that others want to so sing.
Me. We can all find reasons to complain about the world around us, but the bottom line is simple.. to change the world, you must first start with yourself and your perception of the world. You have to put aside any bias and except the world, and the people in it, just as they are. Only then, can your world change for the better.
American Pie.. my sister played that 45 until the needle actually wore a hole in the record
Hmmm.. I have a lot. I would say BB King, Albert King, Hank Williams Sr., Bob Wills, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, George Jones, just to name a few
The hope that someday I can write a song that will inspire someone and make their lives better
Mainly I push people to be who they are. Accept the world as it comes, but never give up being yourself just to fit in.
I think I am more at home in front of a live audience. I like to interact with them and get feedback on what I am doing. I love making up songs on the fly based on a line or topic they suggest. It makes it all more personal and a whole lot more fun for all of us.
I think too many people rely on pre-made tracks and it limits them and their creativity. If they would simply take the time to learn an instrument, the world would see a side of them that they would normally never see.
I have only been here a short while, and still trying to find my way around, but from what I can see it is a good community of artist that support one another... and that is a great thing.
Hearing a song in my head, and not being able to flush it out on an instrument.. either because it is a genre I am not that familiar with, or my own lack of playing ability
I attend a lot of events with local talent. Whether it be bands or solo artist, I think it is very important to support these folks and encourage them to chase their dreams.
From what I am learning, you have to step up and become very internet savvy. There are a lot of avenues on the internet we did not have say 20 years ago, but if you are willing to learn, you can touch the world instead of just your local area.
This is kind of a trick question. Since I have never heard of the artist, how can I list them? I will say, that I am discovering a lot of great artists right here on Drooble, that I have never heard of, but they are just as good, if not better, than artist I have heard on mainstream radio
