Zapsign Deebo

Zapsign Deebo aka Brick Waldo aka Captain Illiterate aka Baby Hosanah

A very versatile musician, predominantly making underground Hip Hop, but i tend to dabble in the more funky genres available to rappers today. I like to experiment with different sounds, tempos and arrangements in my music; and believe in innovative music and out of the ordinary self expression. I hope you like my music :)

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music to me is a platform to express ourselves most honestly as artists, an escape from the sometimes drab experience of our daily lives as listeners.

What is your music dream?

I am living my music dream. "As long as someone was listening, I knew it was a start" - Wyclef Jean

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

The music that people listen to. Or rather the music that is blasted on mainstream radio and television. It lacks substance. Artists (especially in Hip-Hop) used to discuss important world events. Hip-Hop was a movement created to uplift the youth who had no role-models or father figures in their communities. I'd take music (Hip-Hop) back to that era

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The Fugees - How many Mics

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Ab-Soul, Iapetus Records, Common Sense and the Notorious B.I.G

What inspires you to make music?

I'm a creative thinker and I love reading. Music was the most accessible means for me to write my own works. Drawing from experiences in my life and my city, I express my way of rising above the negative influences and promote the positive.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Open Your Mind. Don't allow your circumstances to determine who you become in life.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Exhilarated. I love performing in front of crowds. I choked the first time, but since then I've been hooked. And to this day I stay chasing the dragon

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I think with the rise of the streaming platforms and networks such as Drooble. We have the ability to expose our music to the wider world without the need for record labels and distribution deals. I just think artists should make use of these platforms and stop waiting for "exposure"

What do you think of Drooble?

You wanna know what I really think?

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Not getting responses from the websites and blogs who are supposedly marketing young and upcoming talent! I mean we meet all your requirements before we send you the email.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes. By talking with, sharing the music of, and visiting the shows and clubs where local talent is performing.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Originality and the drive. The platforms will put your music out in the view of the audience you looking for.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Tycro Bluford, Taxan ET the Alien. deKiller'Clown, Joshua the I-AM
