Deryck Sterne

A short Bio.

I do not have an active band. I compose music using Music Software and Sampling Software and achieve very good results. I have not been musically trained but taught myself to play the flute some years ago. Music has been spiritually imparted to me from my childhood. I have already composed almost 1000 music scores. I decided recently that I would select some of what I consider to be my best pieces and make them available to those who would purchase the pieces which please them. I do not compose to complement any specific genre. My first uploads to Cdbaby.com was clasified as Easy Listening. Currently I am focussed on making what I have done available to listeners. The music is all instrumentals. I am a member of The London Seventh-day Adventist male Voice Choir. Some time later by God's grace I will record some vocal pieces.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

For me, music is the medium that I use to convey to others what is imparted to me through God's Holy Spirit.

What is your music dream?

My music dream is to have at least one of my previously composed pieces reproduced by a reputable orchestra which I believe could be a reward for much time spent in composing music.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Eradicating racism, violence, envy, all forms of iniquity. I would educate mankind with the knowledge of Jehovah God who is Creator of all that lives. I would impress/impact all souls with the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Redeemer.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The most memorable song from childhood is a song about animals entering Noah's Ark. In fact, now that I have been reminded of it, I will seek to compose/reproduce it in future through the Aid of God's Holy Spirit.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Bob Marley, Donny Hathaway, Dennis Brown, Burning Spear, Sam Cook, Louis Armstrong, Gladys Knight, Third World, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gay and several others.

What inspires you to make music?

My observance of God's Benevolence in a sinful world. When He imparts music to me through His Holy Spirit, I then reproduce as best I can what He has imparted.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

God's Love, Righteousness, Forgiveness, Peace, Joy, Hope, Deliverance, Dependence, Judgment, Defence, Assistance.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I feel confident as I trust in the God Who has given me the ability to compose/perform.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

The musicians reality today is that specific genres are promoted above others. What could be improved is the eradication of hostile lyrics which are created to promote violent/lewd conduct.

What do you think of Drooble?

A well appreciated place to promote the music with which I have been Blessed minus monetary cost. Thanks Drooble.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The demand to become competitive. I deem this as frustrating because I do not regard the Gift as one to be subjected to competitions since I believe that the real appreciation is granted by a listener's choice.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

The term "local scene" seems strange. If this means other musicians, then I am a fan of other musicians and their brand of music which benefits my productions.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

A large bank balance which has nothing to do with the ability to compose but lines the pockets of those who claim the ability to avail your music to larger audiences. It seems that even long standing reputable musicians are experiencing the problem. Currently every Tom, Dick or Harry claim to be able to give musicians exposure to larger audiences and to increase one's fans.
