What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music gives me expression and connection through it. Whether it's through myself or through others. I grew up in Brooklyn and I was always surrounded by music. Music something that brings new bonds of friendship, family and love.

What is your music dream?

Honestly, my music dream is to reunite my best friends again, Danny and Jermaine and do a showcase with a funky band. Have the band play our old stuff and new stuff. In addition, have several acts we worked with in the past come through as well. Ultimately, I would like to open up a recording studio and work with musicians and artist.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

If I could change the world, I would make going to college absolutely free for everyone. I would provide health insurance for all musicians free and create laws that would give musicians (young and old), free funding so that they can build schools, programs, seminars, etc. to teach the children. All tax free.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Do-I-Do from Stevie Wonder. When I was in the 1st grade, I used to have the radio on when I was sleeping. 98.7 kiss FM would play the hits in the morning and that was one I woke up to when I heard it. Soon as I heard it that day, then I knew I would hear it at my family get together. I would see the video later, etc. I love the bassline and Stevie's and Dizzy's collabo? That's crazy! It was unheard of at the time and that's when a lot of Jazz fusion into R&B/Pop started happening.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Jackson, Pattie Labelle, Luther Vandross, Billy Joel, Earth Wind and Fire, Whitney Houston, George Benson, Norman Conners, Joe Sample, The Crusaders, Meatloaf, The Eagles, The Chainsmokers, U2, Pat Benatar, Sheena Easton, Prince, Sheila E, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Nas, Biggie, Pac, Jay Z, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Beyonce, The Lox, Arianna Grande, J Cole, Usher, Redman, Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Pink, Mary J Blige, D' Angelo, Method Man, The Roots, Common, Eric B, Vic Mensa, etc. I can't name them all.

What inspires you to make music?

Listening to songs that bring out an emotion in me. Once I listen to songs that bring out an emotion, then it inspires me to create something that will inspire. Working with musicians and other artist also inspire. No matter your age, creed or color.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I want people to use their voice to communicate. Whether it's through music or just through everyday conversation. I want my music to bring other's together and share their life experiences, fun and entertainment through my music.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I feel a connection right away. I like to interact with the audience as well. It's like we are one big family. I learned that the audience is looking for something to connect to. They use music to connect some kind of thought, memory or experience.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I think musicians are pioneers and the cornerstone to the life of entertainment. However, nowadays that's changed. The musician has become the hired help instead. We need to remember that we are all musicians. The definition of a musician is a person who plays a musical instrument, especially as a profession, or is "musically talented". Vocalists are musicians. Songwriters are musicians. Your voice is an instrument. It's more than just playing the instrument. It's how you connect with others musicians and create something big out of it as well.

What do you think of Drooble?

I think Drooble is a great site. This needs to be promoted more so that other musicians can join. Musicians network in a different way than other professionals. We need to hear and see each other. We need to work together in order to network.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

I think this new concept of "crowdsourcing" upsets me the most. Your value as musicians matters the most. It's sad but more and more you have to lower your value in order to be compensated. Most of the time, some of the most experience and professional musicians are taking a hit just to get work.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Not really. I just moved here from NYC. However, I am trying to support the local scene now that I got myself together. I'm planning on hitting up a couple of local scence and enjoy the robust talent here in Greenville, NC

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

If you can connect and interact with the audience more through Youtube, Facebook, etc. while you're performing, then you're on the right track. You have to share your talent wilingly.
