Bobby Dale Harris

Story: Bobby Dale Harris Music

I was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma where I began playing and writing music at the age of fourteen. I cut my Teeth on Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly and was soon a big fan of bands like Creedence, the Guess Who and Three Dog Night. Moving to the Oklahoma City area as a young man I developed a passion for many different genres of music that quickly began to influence my playing and writing style. I play a wide variety of music that not only includes the aforementioned but also likes of Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Vince Gill to Neil Diamond, Bob Seger, Reo Speedwagon and the Eagles just to name a few. Thank you for taking the time to show an interest in Bobby Dale Harris Music. I look forward to hearing from you. Bobby Dale Harris

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music to me is just a pure medicine for the soul. when I perform live, write and record a new song I have such a great feeling of accomplishment and a sincere hope that I’ve shared a little bit of magic that can touch or help someone else through a hard time or just get their foot tapping and for a little while, forget their troubles and take a break from a world that just gets crueler and meaner every day.

What is your music dream?

As I had stated in the interview section the main goal is to reach people. Let them know they are not alone in what they are feeling. The secondary goal is to be able to make a living with music. If I can stay playing and recording and make enough money to pay my bills I’m a happy man.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

My five year old granddaughter passed away on Nov. 30th of 2019. This has without a doubt the most difficult thing I have ever had to deal with. Those of us that knew her knew what a special little girl she was. She truly had a heart of gold and treated everybody like they were her best friend. If I could just bottle her spirit and sprinkle it everywhere I truly believe that would change the world. She loved music and that created a very special bond with her and I but she had that with everybody she came in contact with. Just the kind of beautiful spirit that made everybody believe outside of her Momma you were her favorite. The girl was all Love. We certainly need more of that. ?????

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

From my childhood it would have to be something by the Monkees “Day Dream Believer” or the Osmond Brothers. Maybe “The Proud One” I got the bug early from great harmonizing bands and I still think their harmonies were just awesome.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

This is a very long list lol. However to name a few I would have to say Vince Gill for me is number one. The guy is just pure emotion with everything he does and he can play and sing it all. Then definitely The Eagles, REO Speedwagon, Journey. Buddy Holly, Elvis, Merle Haggard the greatest troubadour of all time IMO, Garth Brooks all heart and along with Elvis the best entertainers I’ve ever seen, George Straight, John Mellencamp, Travis Tritt, Joe Diffee. Creedence.....,and I could keep going. I know I’m leaving a lot out but these are the guys that have had a tremendous influence on me.

What inspires you to make music?

Anything can inspire me. Right now because of recent events it’s been the loss of my granddaughter. But I draw inspiration from just about everything. Personal experiences mostly but also people watching and just paying attention to how they interact with each other. I wonder about “Their Story” Is it a new relationship? Is it an older one and how did they get here? What is their connection? Where are we at this moment and time? You can just let your mind go and start creating your version of their story.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Have Fun.......Enjoy life because it can be snatched away in a New York Minute. Love one another and treat each other with kindness and respect. When you’re gone the only thing you leave behind that really matters is how did you make other people feel about you? I learned this from an amazing 5 year old little girl. ?????

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Amazing. It is the ultimate rush for me. Especially when you have them captivated and really listening to you. This doesn’t happen every time lol cause at my current status you’re really just background noise but I have had several of those moments in my career so far and...hey....I love music so I really don’t mind being background noise.... lol

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Nope.......not me!! Music is an art form. It is self expression. Even if it’s not my thing I would never criticize somebody else’s art. If they love it enough and work at it they will reach their potential. just because it’s not my thing doesn’t mean it’s not good.

What do you think of Drooble?

Well I’m really just getting started but I really like what I see so far. Can I answer this later after I’ve been active here for a while? lol

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Off nights and performances when you know you could have and should have done a better job.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Absolutely. I’m very close friends with a lot of my musician friends and if I’m not busy playing somewhere or attending a function I can’t get out if I’m usually there watching and rooting them on.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Just be honest with yourself and okay “What Moves You” Stay with it and keep putting your music and your brand out there in the social media arena. For me that’s the hard part lol. I get a little lazy when it comes to social media.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Wow there are so many. Brent Krueger, Kevin Sac, Laron Simpson, Kryslyn Arthurs, Amanda Cunningham, Niki Jackson, Luke Hailey, Ben Short, Tyler Russell,........I know I’m leaving some out and I hate that but the point is there are local artists everywhere that are certainly worth your time to go listen.
