BiiJ

Story

BiiJ: "But is it Jazz?" are a new (2017) female vocal led UK jazz combo performing fresh modern sounding original jazz tunes with more than a strong legacy in 1930's, 40's, and 50's show tune classics. The band features saxophones and digital aerophone, piano, double bass, and drums, and their debut album "Oh Silly Me" (December 2017) features 7 different lead vocalists across 19 tracks, creating a rich palette of tonal and stylistic variance. Songs vary from up-tempo foot-tapping swing numbers such as "Simplicity Felicity" and their children's charity single "A Frog In The Bell", to dreamy jazz ballads including "I Never Saw You Coming" and title track "Oh Silly Me", along with Latin Jazz tracks like "Away" and "Loveliness" to give a real depth of style and emotional content. Expect short jazzy intros, stylish vocals, clever and sophisticated lyrics and melody, plenty of improvisation including some masterful piano solos from Peter May, and songs littered with gorgeous vocal ad-libs and embellishments from some of the UK's up and coming young female vocalists. BiiJ have ensured that the focus is most definitely on great jazz melody and lyrics to create accessible songs that will get stuck in your head whilst transporting you back to the golden age of jazz. More band and song information including lyrics will be available at www.biij.uk soon!
