Big Homie FFat Tony

Story

I'm a 28yr old father born and raised in Chicago. I moved to the south suburbs of Chicago just before high school- Markham, IL to be exact. I'm from the streets and for a while I lived as a rebel. I got into gangs and crime and made songs about it. Eventually I ran into problems with the law and did time. After serving 2 years for weapons charges, i reevaluated myself and grew closer to my religion and that along with the affects of jail on my life and the lives of those who love me the most caused me to make major changes in my life. My music is a reflection of those changes and a narrative of all I've been through, what I've learned and the way i see life now.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is an outlet...for what's inside and bottled up and also an outlet for information and reminders. Its Therapy for both the listener and the artist.

What is your music dream?

My dream in music is only to be able to make an honest living, and take care of my family, but also to reach the masses with what I'm talking about in my music. My music is meant to uplift, change moods and change minds.

Life experiences, social issues, stress, love of others.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

That we need to wake up, stick together as people, Care for others, that the streets, gangs and crime are dead ends, but I understand why it happens, but i know from experience that there's a better way and a change isnt impossible. Also I wanna inform of the oppression and atrociries that goes on in the hood and the rest of the world that others might be unaware of.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I feel amazing. I love interacting with people and just making others feel good and helping them have a good time.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Musicians could be more real with their audiences instead of putting on a facade and creating a character. People should be able to listen to people they know are just like them. People should be themselves and move away from being like everyone else. Artists are becoming clones of each other.

So far it seems great. Im new here, but it seems like a great platform for artists and fans to be heard and to hear new acts.

Yes. I support major artists from my area, especially those i know gives back to the community and helps other artists. I also help promote smaller local artists from.my area by helping promote their music and lending advice and spreading the news about them.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Ambition. Heavy work ethic because fans nowadays arent as loyal as they used to be. Its so much easier for artists to be heard with social media now so theres a plethora of artists so i believe an artist should stand out with personality, authenticity, and work. Flooding the scene with music.
