What is music to you? What does it give you?

First of all, I had a classical piano training for 2 years when I was 14. My father was a professional musician, playing the viola in several Symphony orchestras. Since then I produced almost 300 songs. To create some interesting music therefore is a big part of my life. Mostly, it depends on my mood, when writing a song, which then gives me a harmonic balance of my inner feelings.

What is your music dream?

That someone would listen to some of my tracks in 100 years.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

To setup a new world order without any wars, violence, crime and only peace on earth, I would allow people to get free medial treatments worldwide.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The first song I can remember was Don't Let Me Down, from The Beatles when I was 6 years old

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

I grew up with Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, The Sweet when I was 14. I loved Brian Conolly. I hated to listen to the music of Abba and never liked them that time. Lateron in 1977 I bought my first record, Black And White, which were from The Stranglers. Since then The Stranglers were my idols. Also, because Dave Greenfield had a similar keyboard playing style as myself. My music sound a bit like the tunes of the Stranglers. But honestly, I never ever copied them. Today my most fav band is Combichrist and Jiluka from Japan !

What inspires you to make music?

Believe it or not, but sometimes during driving my car, I am getting ideas. I can hear the noise of the engine mixed with the outdoor noises and suddenly I can hear a melody structure. I would try to keep this melody in my mind, which always is super hard and at home I would develop or finalise this song idea. As I believe in God and a life after death, my music very often sounds fairy, dreamy and playful. But often I am mixing that with some rough sounds, which gives the impression of Ying and Yang, bad and good, negative and positive. I love this kind of interplay.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Hmm, the message of my music? First of, sometimes I have the feeling, people do not understand the point of my music. The message actually is a "Cry For Help" such as, do you get it ? Do you understand my musical message? I am talking about my instrumental tracks. I want listener to care about the little details embedded within my music. For example: There is a very scary song I produced, really horrible, but one guy mentioned "It will be hard to find a crowd for this kind of sound", where my intention was actually "not" to find a crowd, but people who would understand the song arrangement itself. So, my message actually is ? Try to understand and have some attention to details.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Horrible. With my bands before it was a kind of ok. Lateron I had some stage experience performing alone on stage and the feeling was horrible and uncomfortable. I have decided never ever to do this again.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Its more than overflooded. Everybody is creating music, even they are non musicians, since its so easy to produce sounds since the beginning 90th with Steinberg and your DAW. Its almost impossible to catch a record deal or to get in touch with a Music Supervisor, except you have good connections or your Pa is a Music Producer. As its even hard to catch a deal with so called Independent Music Labels, I only can recommend, start your own digital label and distribute your music on you own and afterwards, promote it like hell. Try to get in touch with important music biz people or contact FM Radios for Air Playing your songs. Otherwise, the only option left is playing live gigs and selling your merchandise good.

What do you think of Drooble?

I think this website is unique, as its giving bands and artists to interact which each other. Such as finding new band mates, getting ideas in relation to productions, your music is getting heard and you can find a lot of new music from other artists.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

As mentioned already above. The "good" times are really over. Its so so hard, that your music gets heard and you have to struggle so much, in order to get a good contact with a Producer or Music Supervisor. Even if you play live gigs. What frustrates me is, you have talent as a musician, but in fact, when producing some Gems, you actually throwing them to the pigs. So, currently I am only producing music for my own, trying to find a female vocalist, sharing and distributing my music to music online stores continuously. To be honest, I do not care if people like my tunes or not at all. And if they like it, ok sure, it makes me happy. If not, I am not killing myself, like, oh poor guy, nobody likes your music, I have to go now.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I am not a fan of any local bands here in Dublin

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Of course some talent. But sometimes this is just not enough. You must be a kind of unique. Your sounds must be special, well produced of course. And I think, today you also need something eye catching if you play live, except you make the audience "wow", when playing.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

One example an EMO band from Japan called "Jiluka". The guys are so young, they look amazing and they are bloody professional musicians. They play like hell on stage with a mega super stunning Manga outfit. Its not really the music I am listening to, but wow, they are really really great.
