Story

born Aug 3 1972 to Vanessa cox Brewington moore and Benjamin Jerome brown sr born and raised in the original settlement free people of color Indian village of lil Philadelphia community in Rockingham NCarolina growing up as a kid all around me was that old saying it takes a whole village to raise a kid all eyes and ears wisdom influences skills we learned taught rubbed of naturally from one another god gives us many talents in which u can use to make a difference even as a source to provide blessed to run fast gave me a chance to when a state championship title that open an opportunity as a top college prospect there was alot of attention that came down on my birthplace of Richmond co state winners four years in a row that it brung other greats like Perry Williams on his off season back home where he was born an raised up to success in the NFL and that yr his team had won a Superbowl title came to me we walk the track in conversation now that i look into life's mistakes i wonder what course of life would have taken had i race him from a challenge he gave on our stroll and won his reason for being there im sure is to give influence like we do for our people i turned him down and left it as a wonder because i was going to state and wasn't trying to lose my shine, just before last 2yrs of high school a drug that tore up big cities a decade before it reach my home town of Rockingham n.c crack cocaine in no time it turn my world into more crime pistols and death for a young boy seeming fast money cloths and nice cars leward me to that life and goin off to college to pursue ball was history that second gift with in me will help me overcome and realize life and my chance to influence and give back is music as a kid my first toy on the meanu was a jot box jam-bore that played records wanting a drum set but never could maybe the cost of one is why i did get one that didn't stop the drive we would go around the land of the family house and find old pots and pans buckets rusty screw drivers and forks and be beating out acoustic echos from the woods and i remember walking home from school threw our family cemetery that holds my family since its early free settlement of color as a Indian village now called lil Philadelphia community each season it would be a wood pecker knocking on the same tree for yrs the sound that a drum is made from he would be knocking with a sound that would hit like a drum stick above a tree just a few steps from the place my brother was buried that had die as an infant sounded with echos that grabbed my attention i would stop at this tree say hi to my brother and almost as wanted to ask that woodpecker where he get his sounds from he would keep on knocking i would say that's OK Mr wood pecker imma go home and sound just like you on pots and buckets one day moms had a shiny new pot big so i figure i use it for my new drum she got to looking for in the car and there i was beating on it in rage bring my pot im yelling im in a band mom-ma she told me im gonna band your a... if u don't bring my pot as time went on hip hop was on the move break dances my first tape recorder with that big red button and bomb box there was this corner the wall we called it there is where you had the rap battles and where we developed our skills run home come back to go again the same place we would have our talent shows for our people leak st elementary not knowing only that it was something over music and drums that comes with us i started my rhymin skills as a way to vent was fighting break dancing and girls went together so into jr high there was a chance to join the band going into my 7th grade yr there was a meeting parents had to attend i guess for the sighing up process unable to attend my mother had to work a shift that got switched to and went to provide so i figure id sign up the next yr not know that that meeting my 7th grade yr was important so when i choice a music class until then walking into this music class was a short and very beautiful music teacher name Mrs price intro was the basics with 1st day of class on the counter where instruments a kid like me couldn't wait to try but there where sum congas i had my eyes on know that she would eventually say everyone grab the instrument u like to play i take off like a wild ass child but there was a kid closer to them then me but i can note so time he reached to grab i grab hold said first with a look that im sure spooked him to un hand it as class commenced i beat on the drums the teacher Mrs price stop class and said your good why didn't i join the band i told her so she crab my hand and to walk with her i notice we where headed to the band room i see my kuzin Kendrick malloy drum sticks in hand with a smile on his face we get when you get the same class of a friend but were related so pic his big ass smile so she goes on to explain that this kids has some talent he would love to be in band he heard her plea but under rules he said in order to be in band you must start in 7th grade so holding my hand she gave me in encouragement i would later remember later in life until then it was dormant inside while sports and beating at home watch my cousins and family have outside DJ the hip hop dances until we reach the end of high school to take off into the world to fly and find your purpose with the drug spreading outta the big city into my back yard temptation for cars money and girls and turf fights the air was filled with what drugs will do to any city or town an incident out one night guns play the roll of me having to leave my place that was all i ever known to escape the charges against me attempted murder my mothers brother Richard Brewigton one of the family members we all push each other to become was one of them we are proud of she called to come get me and the family meeting was set next thing i know i was landing in San Jose ca, and the last i heard was police kicking in where is he my family has history of protecting its on and not the first time having to smuggle one to safety or until its forgotten or goes away in my case they must have known but me that there is a law of statue of limitation after i found when i did come back home beating the case because of that law in this time i was able to focus and meet people that woke up that other talent god gives us all and the last one ignore this one would im sure been prison early death or just a life of no purpose speaking to my mother before passing away just before i got on the plane she told me its more in the world then just what i was doing later the phone call conversation help to just do what i love she ask Rome what is it you want to do with your life i said music when she replied to me well if that's what you want to do it all i want for you is to just make something out yourself backing up my drive was that wonderful teacher Mrs price the music teacher that i wished to thank for those simple words of encouragement it has been life lessons and mistakes but god had a plan a date and put things in my path that blows my mind i was a believer and took each blessing towards where i im right now with chance of me making a the choice in front enough of the challenges mistakes where to have understanding to when im ready for my purpose to serve him threw music i hope to inspire help build the next even if its just knowledge to build the up like it was done for me so amazed at how the man up stairs position me i walked in my area where i now have a booth and this day i felt him and that day new he loves me and this is what my purpose to keep me focus and calm and platform to battle the win over the devil he came into my body automatically i feel to my knees in a prayer position tears running down my face not like a cry baby but tears that felt so warm this experience so good i didn't want him to leave im fully aware now and doing things one after the other doing music with a mission with whispers of love ones pushing to win not just for me but for my family of indigenous to heal our wounds and the world
