Story

BASE-91 is a multi-urban experimental band formed by the Lahore based rapper Taha Ahmed (KrooZi), lead guitarist Kamal Raza Zaidi and Karachi based music producer Osama Qureshi. The foundation behind the creation of the group was seeded when Osama and KrooZi collaborated on Osama’s EP “The Alienated Being”. The duo was experimenting across genres when Osama was introduced to Kamal by Taha, and the three immediately recorded 3 demo tracks. Which were later included in the “Misfits” EP. The band has open ended approach and has altering additional members with varying musical influences and backgrounds. The group derives it’s sound from the individual influences of each member which results in an overall experimental tonality of the group. Taha as a rapper is heavily influenced by the old school hip-hop artists such as Eminem, Immortal Technique and Wu Tang Clan along with Nu-Metal and the rap rock acts like Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Linkin Park and Papa Roach. Osama is influenced by the Industrial rock acts as Nine Inch Nails, Brian “HEAD” Welch and the rap rock/metal sounds from the 90s while Kamal’s prog rock guitar skills are influenced by the likes of Slash, David Gilmore, Steven Wilson and John Petrucci.
