Arpan Sen

Bio

Hi friends!! I am Arpan Sen, a soundscaper. I dabble with sounds and try to weave patterns which reflect me. My very soul lies in the strings strung on my guitar which gives me a voice i never had. I like to explore, tasting water from the rivers of pop, jazz, rock, and mostly indian classical. My unorthodox approach towards my instrument is a product of my own way of hearing sounds and my informal self education in music. Listen to my music, and then take it in your heart and then decide what you feel about it... For more information do check my YouTube videos.. Here is the link below... www.youtube.com/ArpanSen

What is music to you? What does it give you?

I was from a non-musical background. Music seemed to be always there in fragments from my surroundings. My taste in music was shaped by Hindustani classical music, Rabindrasangeet and Ravi Shankar.Later, I found my favourites among Tommy Emmanuel, Don Ross, Andy Mckee and Steve Vai. Initially started off as an accompanying guitarist in a band. I worked there for some time before creating my own compositions like “Rays of love”, and recording a few renditions of Hindustani Ragas , and also fusing them with modern western sounds. I worked in another band for a brief period. After that I found myself concentrating on sharpening my own skills in music, and creating a few more compositions like ” Let them be free”, ” Tranquility” ,”Fun Times”. I’ve also collaborated with the Irish Flutist , Mr. John Devitt on the song, “The wanderer”.

What is your music dream?

As stated earlier, classical music laid a deep impact in shaping my taste in music. My compositions were based on some Hindustani Ragas. I’ve also fused them with modern western sounds. Some specific genres I usually listen to include experimental, pop, classical and semi-classical. While composing ,the primary thing in my mind is always, how to make my compositions sound good.
