Anthony

Story

My name is Anthony, I am a bass player and death metal vocalist. Unfortunately I cant do both at the same time, so if someone near me is in need of either of the two then I'm down. I have been playing bass for 10 years and have been doing metal vocals for 3 years.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is one of the only two things in life that I care about. Without music I wouldn't be anything at all.

What is your music dream?

My dream is to create extreme metal music that has the potential to inspire political change, almost like a death metal Rage Against the Machine you could say, and of course to make a living in the music industry.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Getting corporate money out of politics.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Disposable Heroes

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

My top bands of all time would have to be, in no particular order, Pantera, Metallica, Lamb of God, The Black Dahlia Murder, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Led Zeppelin, Cannibal Corpse and I'll say Grimaze because Melina from Grimaze started Drooble.

What inspires you to make music?

Music just naturally comes out of me and It's all I think about, I'm always thinking of new ideas and always working on getting better. So, just life in general inspires me I guess.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Political change in particular.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I have yet to perform live but I'm sure it's one the greatest feelings in the world.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Musicians nowadays are not only musicians, but they are now technically business owners and managers of their own personal brand. Not only are musicians in charge of making their music, but they also have to successfully manage social media marketing, touring, imaging, and merchandising all on their own, especially musicians in niche genres. I honestly couldn't say anything on how to improve this other than that streaming services have completely changed the landscape of the music industry, for better or worse, and unfortunately, that can of worms cannot be closed.

What do you think of Drooble?

It's pretty cool I guess.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

My focus on such a niche and extreme genre of music has made it difficult to find like-minded musicians near me. Hopefully drooble will help me in that regard.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I go to shows as much as possible but being a poor college student gets in the way occasionally.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Understanding the importance of your bands image, messaging, brand, merchandise and round the clock work in order to make a living in the music industry. And, of course determination.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Grimaze, Dehydrated, Acid Bath, Bethlehem, The Red Chord
