Anthony Watkins

Story

Anthony (Avarice) Watkins Projects: E.O.A. (Evisceration of Avarice) Oceans Like Glass I was born and raised in surrey b.c. a place plagued by drugs and violence. when I was young I started getting involved with a lot of bad people. and to help me get away from it my family got me into music. my mom bought me a guitar when I was 12, and my grandma signed me up for musical lessons and everything she could think of. as I got into highschool how ever. I got back into the wrong crowd started partying, doing drugs, and everything. eventually i got really sick for years after ending up in the hospital I gave up music completely and got depressed and eventually became a recluse not even talking to my closest friends and family. after years of doing absolutely nothing. I ended up leaving surrey at the age of 20 and moving to powell river. where I started making music by myself and going to local metal and punk shows. and eventually rebuilt myself as a person. Now I have two kids and a loving wife. at the age of 26.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is life!

What is your music dream?

Just to enjoy every aspect of it. And hopefully go somewhere with it.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Pretty much everything

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Anything from the 90s

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Bring me the horizon, issues and picturesque. Anything metalcore with an r&b feel.

What inspires you to make music?

Any random thing. It's odd af.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Enjoy everything, wreck shit... Then relax.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Nervous at first, but it passes.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Idk... Less paying for success and actually working for it. Not sucking or being generic at what music you make.

What do you think of Drooble?

Amazing! What do you think?

What frustrates you most as a musician?

That talent is not appreciated. If you can play 3 chords you're praised more than people who spent their whole lifes tied to their passions/instruments. Like fingerstyle guitarists and classical musicians just aren't as known as they should be.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Of course. By going to shows and promoting.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Talent?

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Uh... No
