Anthony Purdy

Story

Anth Purdy’s Swing Jazz Guitar My solo act of ' Anth Purdy's Swing Jazz Guitar' began 5 years ago when I started writing and performing guitar instrumentals influenced by the music of the 30's , 40's and 50's. These eras produced some of the greatest music ever written and my act captures the sounds and styles of these great musicians. My styles include Swing, Western Swing ,Gypsy Jazz and Hawaiian/ 50's Surf music. These original compositions pay tribute to the guitar greats as Les Paul, Charlie Christian, T Bone Walker, Django Rienhardt and Hank Garland. I use a technique pioneered by the great Les Paul in 1948 using sound on sound to create all of the guitar parts when playing live. During the last 5 years, I have been interviewed on BBC TV and played live on BBC radio. My live performances have included The Sage Gateshead as part of their Americana Festival, Northern Guitar Shows across the UK, Mojo Guitar Shows, the Edinburgh Music Festival and the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival. I am also proud to have been invited to play shows for the last 4 years in prestigious venues in West Hollywood including the House of Blues. Anth Purdy's Swing Jazz Guitar is a very unique and professional act with its roots in a magical era.
