Now that I’m almost grown , I can sure say that music made me who I am. If I didn’t have it in my life , I’d just have a huge sinkhole inside that would never be filled. Whether it was voice or piano, music constantly challenged me to become a better person and a better professional; it was my guiding light and gave me purpose. I mean, what is life without art? ?♀️
My favorite artists now are Gregory Porter and Lianne La Havas. Gregory has the most soothing deep velvet voice, and his songs always resonate with me. Lianne is a fresh breath of air, she is truly a musical phenomenon.
I usually get inspired when I have strong, overwhelming feelings for something and I feel like there’s something I have to say. And , surely, I get inspired when I listen to other artists of different genres and styles: it broadens your thinking, makes your singing diverse and helps you avoid musical cliches.
When I listen to music , I feel very understood when the lyrics are relatable. So with my music or when I sing covers I want to help people feel understood and comforted. When you’re sad , you listen to sad music because it helps you realize you’re not alone, and it does help ! And with my music , I want to help those around me to stop being afraid of their emotions.
I could say it depends on the occasion, but no matter where I am , I prepare to do my best. I think it’s always important to give positive vibes to people , even when you don’t see what you wish for. That’s why I always tune myself for positivity when I go on stage , which makes me feel amazing!
