Alexandra Zerner

Bio

Alexandra Zerner is a progressive rock guitar player, multi-instrumentalist, and composer from Brno, Czech Republic. She has been working as a guitar teacher, session musician, and sound engineer since 2001, and she’s currently endorsed by EMG Pickups, Kahler Tremolo Systems, and Lizard Spit Music Care Products. Her solo works include the albums “9 Stories” (2014), “Aspects” (2015), “An Evening Walk” EP, (2016), “Opus 1880” (2018), “Silhouette” (2021), and the singles “Healing” (2009), “Nebula” (2010), “Butterfly (Fly to Heaven)” (2014), “Pawprints (In Loving Memory of Orlin)” (2018), and “Kartinche” (2019). Alexandra participated as a guest musician in “Thoughtscanning” (2014) by We All Die (Laughing) (guitars), “The Path To Atlas” (2015) by Aurora Borealis (guitars, keyboards, mandolins), “The Four Seasons” (2016) by Vivaldi Metal Project (guitars), “Follow Me” (2019) by Sevi (guitars, keyboards), “Odd Times” by Alberto Rigoni (guitars, keyboards), and “Tomorrow” (2020) by Svetlana Bliznakova – Sevi (guitars, keyboards, mandolins). She performed as a support act for Stu Hamm and Greg Howe (November 2016), and Dream Theater (July 2019).

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is life.

To be free to do all the music I want and not to get poorer because of that.

What inspires you to make music?

Books, films, and life in general.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I want to make sincere and worthy music that's not created for the sole purpose of generating revenue but to convey actual thoughts, emotions, and ideas; to make people feel and think.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

In an altered state of mind.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

The musician's reality is a nightmare. It all should start by getting rid of all the corrupted and pathological overly-commercial structures exploiting artists and aggressively marketing worthless disposable pseudo-art to provoke consumerism.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far, so good.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The corrupted music business model that's built entirely on the idea of exploiting the artists and maximising profit by promoting worthless mass production.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I attend concerts and buy merch directly from the artists.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

To be a clown and an excellent marketer.
