What is music to you? What does it give you?

I created Alcubierre Music as a way to innovate, evolve and explore the nether-regions of instrumental music. A new track will get released around every 6 weeks which contributes to a set of three tracks in a theme, genre or style. The first EP titled 'Locked in - Flipped out' is bass driven, with musical influences including Jazz, Funk, Rock and R+B. Shortly to embark on the next EP with the first track being released on May 7th entitled 'Centrifuge'. This will be a complete departure from the first, featuring acoustic guitar and cello, very much reminiscent of Steve Reich, Dutch Uncles, California Guitar Trio and King Crimson.

What is your music dream?

I’m living it right now-keep on writing cause you love it and then anything else is a bonus

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Taking a long hard look at yourself

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Smokey Robinson - 'Tracks of my Tears' I'd never heard anyone sing like that before! Legend!

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Frank Zappa has been a singular obsession for twenty years now. All of it, the rock and his orchestral side and of course the lewd stuff. The scary thing about it is, I've only scratched the surface. Grew up on Grunge - Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots and Sebadoh, I love the collection of Nirvana B sides - Insecticide. Prog - Gong, Soft Machine, King Crimson. 90's Gangster Rap - snoop Dog's Dogg pound.

What inspires you to make music?

The fact that you never know whats going to come out

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Music doesn't have to be what we're told it is

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I don't (yet)

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

We haven't got any rights - only privileges, because they can be taken away. Record companies are still the main reason why things are fucked, but Spotify are closing in... "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

What do you think of Drooble?

I don't know yet

What frustrates you most as a musician?

People who are perfectly content with everything

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

You support them, they'll support you. I have a lot of ex-students doing amazing things - I like to keep in touch because i've already invested a lot in them and so am genuinely interested in what they're getting up to on the local scene and more widely

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

The music is not where your hard work finishes. You need to be your own promoter/producer/engineer/manager/booking agent otherwise you'll languish forever in obscurity

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.
