A goal, a journey, a mission. Taking others from their regular lives into a temporary space where they can communally celebrate being human.
To be able to create and play music with other musicians and not have to have another source of income. Music that is deep, rhythmic, and makes people move.
Bring back live music environments and communal music creation, like the 60s 70s
Joy to the World, Three Dog Night
Led Zeppelin, Rush, the Police. Also total left turn here, Elton John, Joshua Kadison, Mark Cohn, Cat Stevens, Guess Who, the Association
Seeing others enjoy it and become affected. Seeing the faces of people who were there and knew something special happened.
To dissolve the daily rigors of life with sound, not drugs.
Elated, challenged, excited. I feel a responsibility to perform as I'm inheriting thousands of years of tradition of stages and coliseums.
Musicians are not respected because the work into creating it is diminshed by the fact that mp3s don't sound that great. In addition, the instant gratification culture doesn't allow for music to age, its consumed and thrown away. More live performance and less reliance on recordings. Grateful Dead and the entire jam scene come to mind.
I'll find out. Good Idea for sure.
Other musicians lack of commitment to performing something special. Bar bands don't dress like they are a performer, their gear sucks, they read the lyrics and chords off cell phones and printouts. They show no commitment to the presentation of their craft.
I go see bands, typically original music bands. I'll buy their merch. I participate in an electro music group that puts on frequent performances.
A captivating performance.
Can't think will get back.
